RS 200�s at Bough Beech Flat calm and drizzle greeted the 31 competitors at the Bough Beech RS200 open on 23rd April. Luckily the rain stopped and a light breeze filled in in time for the first race. After a closely contested opening beat Dave & Emma Derby slipped into the lead down the first run only to lose it again when they went the wrong way round the leeward mark. Sue Antonelli, Jon Lewis & Andrew Peters all took turns at leading but it was the Derbys who were back in front at the finish. The Race Officer sensibly postponed the start of the second race to allow the wind to fill in. When it did get underway in a force 2-3 it was the Derbys who were quickly into the groove and they led from start to finish followed home by Tim & Becca Fells and Joanne Wooton & Nigel Horniman. A big windshift on the first beat of the third race brought some new faces to the front. Former National Champions Tom & Jo Hewitson found the go pedal to win from Antonelli and Fells. With outcome now dependant on the last race the Hewitsons and the Derbys stormed up the first beat to lead round the windward mark. The pair swapped the lead several times before a port & starboard incident at the end of the second beat let Mike Chapman & Alex Porter through into the lead. This was short lived however and at the finish Hewitson won but Derby�s second place was enough to give him the meeting. Overall Results: 1st 999 Dave & Emma Derby 4pts; 2nd 772 Tom & Jo Hewitson 6pts; 3rd 896 Sue Antonelli & Jo Lloyd 10pts; 4th 653 Tim & Becca Fells 13pts; 5th 1054 Jon Lewis & Katy Nichol 14pts; 6th 962 Andrew & Jeraldine Peters 15pts.
