At the moment when we get an email notification of a new post or topic the link takes the user to www.rs100sailing.org so  the 'select your country' header is on the page and sometimes the post isn't rendered correctly.

I hope Al's recent post is a good example. The link in the email is: http://www.rs100sailing.org/index.asp?selection=New%20Forum&Fleet=RS100&fid=2&tid=139 but the post isn't readable until the user navigates to the country specific site: http://uk.rs100sailing.org/index.asp?selection=New%20Forum&Fleet=RS100&fid=2&tid=139

However when the user select their country it just takes them back to the country's default homepage mean they have to navigate back to the forum post manually.

May I suggest the link in the email uses the originating countries subdomain (uk.rs100sailing.org in this case) or that when a user selects their country the referring page is stored and the user redirected to the country specific page if it exists.

Hope that makes sense!

Many thanks.

Dave

Hi Dave,
I'm not quite sure what you mean, the View Thread / Reply Now should take you to the forum post itself. It will be in the International site, but you shouldn't have to navigate to the UK site to view it?
Both sites are the same forum so you can post from either, it is an international forum so thats why you get passed to the international site.
The post looks ok to me, when you say its not rendered correctly what do you mean?
Many thanks

You're right, it does seem to be rendering correctly now and is readable. Must have been something to do with my browser I guess?

However with regards to the international/national site thing:

01 - Follow email link to post. As you say, no probs reading it now, but it doesn't think I'm logged in. The login/reply button doesn't seem to work
02 - Click on the UK link and get taken to the UK site where it now knows I'm already logged in.
03 - Navigate through the multiple pages to get back to this post so that I can reply.

Bit of a lengthy post for something that isn't that big a deal, it was supposed to be a suggestion but now sounds like a complaint... I should have kept my mouth shut :-)

Cheers,
Dave

Aha.

I've now just gone straight to www.rs100sailing.org and logged in and now it works. I guess I must have logged in to uk.rs100sailing.org so the int. site couldn't read the cookie or something?

Anyway, I'll crawl back under my rock!

Understood, don't feel as if its a complaint as I need to get this working as well as i can and if there is an issue i need to know about it.

I would much rather have these posts else the only way i can tell people don't like it is when its not being used, and thats no use to anyone.
So keep the suggestions coming in and i'll try to iron out any issues we have.
Cheers

PS. I re-wrote the system from scratch so we were better integrated with our site and so that I had free reign over what we do with it. I can only develop with your feedback.

I seem to have two accounts with the same email address actually?

This one seems to be the one I created myself before I bought my boat and joined the CA. The other one (with the avatar) is linked to my CA membership. I can't log into the www. site with the account linked to my CA membership though.

Thanks for your help.
