I recently broke a shroud, I was on a fairly tight reach with the kite up, and it went with a big bang!  The mast shot forward but was ok and I dropped the kite to the finish.  When I went to put the new ones on I found the shroud ends had worn so much that the little nib that holds the shroud cap in place broke off (see pic).  I managed to find 2 old ends in the spreaders I took off a broken 200 mast and put them on so that the shroud now goes through the unworn other side of the plate.  I also noticed that the shroud caps are for both 3 and 2.5 mm wire (marked on the end of the cap) depending on the way round they are put on and I wondered if because I had them in the 3mm slot wheither this had contributed to the wear. The 100 has 2.5mm shrouds.
I will be looking out for old masts I can rob the spreader ends out of in future to replace the ones on the boat.
My spreader ends are 5 1/2 years old and shrouds were just under 2 years old.

Hi Mark,

Had a similar issue with our B14 last year and ended up buying the ends from P&B for about £4 each. Now you've mentioned this I'm going to buy a couple of spares!

here did they break Mark?

Mine gave up on the upper ferrules there to stop the should moving too far on the spreader - I am sure these things create a week point, particularly if you take off ad coil the sounds when travelling as I do (a consequence of rig-switching as well as not wanting them scratching the mast
