Would appreciate some advice here as am loving the boat and now racing in stronger winds, but really struggling to be competitive upwind especially when the first beat is almost always out against a strong tide.

Settings: 10.2, shrouds on 4th hole, mast gate on 6 - 6.5.

Symptoms: can't get in the groove, if I come off 'best to windward' I gain speed and smoothness but lose too much to the tide, but if I stay close then power is very on/off and i'm just sitting there with the lasers and being beaten by L2ks,

Have tried with more kicker, and less kicker...but suspect I'm doing either enough, and sitting in an inefficient middle ground.

It's really odd...F3 and I'm winning races, F5+ and I'm out the back!

All thoughts gratefully appreciated!

Thanks - Ian

I've had a similar experience. I've been wondering whether it's due to windage from the wings.

Or maybe it's just because you're too overpowered with the 10.2 in F5+, whereas the Lasers at 7.06 are not.
