Anyone know the length of the kicker?

Thanks
Alex

Paul suggested 8.15m of 4mm evo-race, which was about right - I actually got Excel Control (need to search for stockists, mine came from Purple Marine and bought 9m, took the old vang line out, matched up the spliced lengths, then cut to ensure there was the right overlap for the splice itself.

There is a video on doing a neat splice with excel control here - i made up a splice tool like the one he uses, only I think my wire was a bit too thick, he just pulls effortlessly, it took my an hour and blisters to work it thru.

I liked this route as the slice is pretty much invisible so hopefully does not have the chaffable join where my original one went bang one day in a F2

The routing under the deck is actually quite obvious (follow the cunningham)

Thanks Clive, thats the way I was going to do it..(Looks very smart with the invisible splice, I normally do the splice as per standard on the boat)
Since my kicker splice came apart and I had to re-do it, its feels a little short and its a struggle to get all the kicker off I want too. No kicker for me when its light.
  Routing mouse line for me.
Ive had the boat in bits since the nats to try and find out why the kite was so stiff and it looks like the only pulley that needs replacing is the one at the top of the mast and the others are fine. Which is complete opposite to when Greg had trouble with his (all the pulleys in the bow area).

I'm with Greg, I burnt out the kite halyard block that hides under the deck until the pole is fully extracted. In the end it jambed solid and the kite would not come down, a bit of a problem when planing and only 10m of pond left - capsize and paddling time. If you have burnt out a block, have a chat with Selden, they can be quite supportive

What are you using for a splicing tool?

Sounds like I am gonna have to buy one then - my improv version made with copper electrical wire was not up to snuff - suspect the wire is too thick

Excel control is great when new, but if you try adjusting later, like I did this weekend, it becomes impossible to use. There are comments elsewhere on the web saying the same. I am going to stick to excel-racing as I know I can easily splice and resplice later using simple fids.even though more expensive than evo-race, unless someone tells me evo-race as easy to splice as excel-racing.
Saw this interesting bimble in yachts and yachting forum for the spinnaker halyard which sounds interesting.
"sexy tapered spi halyard, Dyneema core tapered into 6mm excel fusion (light less windage etc), then just after the cleat position (fat bit of rope is exactly in the correct position for cleat) stripped out inner core to leave just the jacket for the rest (less weight, jacket goes flat gives you good grip for dousing the kite and fusion jacket has dyneema in it so it doesnt stretch on the drop), then at the spi patch end a 12" length of dyneema back in the fusion so that the knot is big enough so it doesnt pull back through the next downhaul ring or webbing !!"
