25 boats gathered at Parkstone Yacht Club for a final test before the Nationals. Competition was always going to be tough with many of the top ten from last year's Nationals racing plus a number of people who have been showing form through this season.

The wind on Saturday was light but luckily reasonably steady allowing Nick Stone the Race Officer and his team to set good courses. Huw Powell showed a consistent performance getting 2 bullets and a fourth on Saturday but as he could only sail Saturday did not reckon in the final results.   Hywel Roberts also showed consistent form on Saturday proving that a lack of sleep with a new baby is no excuse for a lack of performance!    The light winds meant that concentration was key and that big places could be made or lost all the way through the fleet.

A curry at the yacht club was followed by a visit to the famous Mr Kyps night spot where a band who could only be described as an angry version of the Levellers were playing.

Sunday morning brought more wind and a few hangovers causing differing performance.
Three races were sailed in a steady 12 knots with the race team doing quick turn-arounds so that the fleet were in by early afternoon.   Neal Freeman showed his form by getting 2 bullets (plus an OCS!). Jon Holroyd revelled in the windier conditions on Sunday to get two seconds and a first on Sunday. Chris Larr showed great consistence on both days proving he is one to watch for the Nationals.

Neal Freeman won by a margin having discounted his OCS with Chris Larr second and Jon Holroyd third.

..... so the question now is who will win the second RS100 Nationals in less than two weeks time?

Thanks go to the race team, rescue boat crews and the club for laying on another great RS100 open.
